Several years ago, Rabbi Richard Address, a visiting guest lecturer, challenged Temple members to find a new direction for becoming a more "caring community." One positive by-product of this challenge was that questions were raised as to how well we, as a congregation, meet the needs of our members.

Among these members are individuals who have concerns about separation and divorce, aging, stress, blended families, outreach, interfaith marriages, loneliness, caregiver's support, widows and widowers, singleness, parenting, and other issues.

It is our belief that to be a part of a spiritual or religious community requires each of us "to take care" of each other. Our programs, include sharing our understandings and ideas, giving support to each other, and attempting to recognize the role grief plays in our lives. Coming to grips with the loss of a loved one and starting anew is a journey none of us can ignore.

Lonliness is a state of mind that can catch us all unaware at times. It is not our human condition but a set of circumstances. Stress is one of the most common companions we have in today's world. Many of us often feel we are living life on the run. The emphasis of our programs is to learn to manage the harmful and enjoy the helpful.

The Temple's Caring Community programs are aimed at providing a support group for our members, whatever their needs are. If you are in need of help or want to participate, please contact the Temple office.
